Joshua English Scrimshaw
Joshua has been called an "inventive voice in comedy theater" (Star Tribune) and, more importantly "less awkward than Ray Romano" (TC Daily Planet). A Fringe Festival veteran, Joshua has co-created many critically acclaimed shows, including Look Ma No Pants, Shut Your Joke Hole and From Here to Maternity. A frequent collaborator with Hardcover Theater, Joshua appeared in the hit Victorian serial London After Midnight and co-wrote Johnny Bocca's Sex Farce for Swingin' Lovers, an adaptation of the saucy Medieval classic, The Decameron. Joshua has performed with a wide variety of local theater companies including Bedlam Theater, John Munger's Third Rabbit Dance Ensemble, Theater in the Round, Actors Theater of Minnesota, Off Leash Area, Cheap Theater and Lili's Burlesque Revue. Joshua made his television writing debut last fall on the new syndicated sketch comedy show Mad About. His recent collaboration with Collision Pictures, A Good Friend, won six awards including best screenplay at this year's Twin Cities 48 Hour Film Festival. When not occupying himself with the aforementioned tomfoolery, Joshua works at Whole Foods Market, cajoles his children into finishing their homework and produces comedy dance shows with his wife, Adrienne English. English Scrimshaw Theatrical Novelties' next show, To Mars with Tesla or The Interplanetary Machinations of Evil Thomas Edison can be seen this April at Open Eye Figure Theater in Minneapolis.
