About Comedy Suitcase
Comedy Suitcase is a Minneapolis based theatrical production company dedicated to creating live comedy for all ages. Founded in 2010 by Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen, Comedy Suitcase strives to bridge the gap between imaginative children's theater and sophisticated comedy for adults, crafting shows that appeal to young and old alike. In the words of Groucho Marx: "A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five!"

Comedy Suitcase is pleased to announce their 2011-2012 season. Opening the season is an encore presentation the holiday hit THE HARTY BOYS SAVE CHRISTMAS written by Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen. The show sold out its run last year and garnered glowing reviews from audiences and critics. City Pages called THE HARTY BOYS SAVE CHRISTMAS "a rare holiday production that offers merriment for all ages." and The Twin Cities Examiner declared the show "a Santa's bag stuffed with comedic riches". Don't miss this second chance to join sibling detectives Fred and Jack Harty as they battle a Christmas hating criminal bent on destroying the Twin Cities’ most precious holiday tradition. COMEDY SUITCASE is pleased to welcome back fifteen year old Sulia Altenberg in the role of Becca Morgan, the Harty Boys' best and brainiest chum. Each season, Comedy Suitcase features at least one all ages cast, giving promising young actors the opportunity hone their comedic skills alongside a veteran cast of Twin Cities performers.
Following hot on the heels of the Harty Boys is BABY NEW YEAR'S TIME TRAVELING PAJAMA PARTY! Two shows - 5pm and 7pm - one night only - December 31st! This early bird comedy variety show gives kids, parents and the socially awkward an opportunity to countdown to midnight and still be home at a reasonable hour! Celebrate the end of the 2011 and the birth of 2012 with an evening of sketches, songs, dance and, of course, time travel!
Next is our manly love letter to physical comedy, THE GENTLEMEN'S PRATFALL CLUB written by Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen. Highbrow meets lowbrow when a friendly wager turns into a slapstick duel to the death!
Finally, we close our season with THE KAFKA NUTS written by Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen. THE KAFKA NUTS sets loose the anarchic clowns of 1930s film comedy in the bizarre and oppressive world of Franz Kafka! As we stumble into the new millenium, many classic comedians and modes of comedy are passing from our cultural memory. THE KAFKA NUTS is the second show in our COMEDY PRESERVATION SERIES. Once a season Comedy Suitcase dedicates a show to remembering and reimagining comedy from a bygone era. We hope that these shows will help to build an appreciation for classic comedy in our younger audiences while giving older audiences a fresh take on comfortable favorites.
